This version includes a slew of fixed bugs from the first alpha as well as a few new features and code improvements.

Nearly all the raw SQL statements have been removed and they have put into a separate class to allow easier database abstraction modules to be written. This should make it very easy for nearly any database to be used with IPB from v2.0 onwards.

You'll also notice that we've included two new topic views to test out.

Outline

This is our twist on the classic 'threaded' mode. Standard threaded mode displays can be cumbersome because you can only read one post at a time which is confusing to some and can take a lot of clicking to read the entire topic. Our version allows you to read several posts at once if they follow the thread of conversation. When you click on a link to show the post, any parents of the post are show too - which creates the illusion of having a sub topic within the topic. Hitting the "quote" button will reply to the post you're quoting. This button will probably be renamed to 'reply' in the future to avoid confusion.

Linear+

This is a twist on the standard 'flat' layout. This will put the first post of the topic at the top of the page regardless of what topic page you're viewing. This can help keep discussions on topic and act as a handy reference to what the original topic was about!

We've also rewritten many of the SQL queries to allow IPB to scale better. The new SQL queries may increase latency on very small boards (we're talking thousands of a second) but it does make great savings with the more posts you have. This makes IPB 2.0 ideal for 1,000 posts and 10,000,000 posts.
